REGISTRATION

How to Register: Complete the registration form in this brochure or download one. Please submit one registration form per student (photocopies acceptable). Registrations are accepted by mail, hand-delivery, or fax. Phone registrations will be accepted beginning Monday, January 14 for workshops and masterclasses only.

When to Register: Everyone may register now. Returning FlynnArts students and Flynn Members will be processed immediately. Anyone may become a Flynn Member by including a membership donation with your class registration (or become a member on line). Registrations from non-members/new students will be held and processed in the order received beginning Wednesday, January 2. Those who register by that date earn a special 2-for-1 ticket offer to select Flynn performances (see details at right).

Class Confirmation: After registration, students will receive a letter confirming their spot in the class.

Waiting Lists: Students who are placed on waiting lists will be contacted if space becomes available.

Withdrawals/Cancellations:

Classes of 6–15 weeks: Intention to withdraw must be made known to the FlynnArts coordinator at least two weeks prior to the first class in order to secure a refund, less a 15% registration fee. Withdrawals announced less than two weeks prior to the first class result in a tuition credit (less 15%). After the second class session, no credits will be issued.

Workshops/Masterclasses: Tuition is non-refundable.

The Flynn Center reserves the right to cancel classes and provide refunds with insufficient registration or to discontinue student participation in the unlikely event of persistent disruptive behavior.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Class Location: Unless otherwise noted, classes are held at the Flynn Center in the Chase Dance Studio (dance) on the first floor or the Hoehl Studio Lab (theater and music) on the third floor. Enter at 147 Main Street, under the FlynnSpace marquee.

Weather Cancellation: In the event of severe weather conditions staff will make every effort to contact students individually by email or phone but it is ultimately the responsibility of the student to check the education phone line for class cancellations: 802-652-4548, ext.1.

Class Presentations: Semester-end performances are noted in individual class descriptions. Many other classes conclude with an informal sharing of class activities and process.

Open Classes Week: Share your FlynnArts experience with a friend at no extra charge the week of March 17-22 (selected classes only—stay tuned for details).

Teachers: Documentation for recertification credit is available for all adult classes.

College Students: Modern Dance III is offered for credit through UVM. Several classes are offered for credit through Burlington College. See your advisor for details. Students from other institutions should speak to their advisors about independent study credit for adult classes.

TUITION

Payment: Full payment by check or credit card is required in order to secure your space in a class unless you apply for a scholarship or arrange for a payment plan (see details in the financial assistance section).

Discounts:

Multiple class/family discount: 5% off of two classes and 10% off of three or more may be applied to one student taking multiple classes or siblings/family members each taking one class. Discount does not apply to classes costing less than $50, or to workshops/masterclasses.

Workshop/Masterclass discount: Save 10% on any combination of three. Discount does not apply to Family Performance Workshops.

All discounts are forfeited if a student withdraws from a class.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Payment Plans: Payment plans are available to anyone who prefers to split up their balance into two to four installments. The first installment of 25% is due with registration. Full tuition must be paid by Tuesday, April 1. Check the box at bottom of registration form.

Scholarships: A limited number of need-based scholarships are available to support access to FlynnArts for all interested students. To apply, indicate the amount you need on the registration form, attach a description of your financial situation, and enclose a 15% nonrefundable deposit to hold your space in the class. Please note that full scholarships are rarely available—please estimate the portion of tuition you can afford and request a specific amount of assistance. Scholarship decisions will be made the week of January 7. Scholarships are funded by the Flynn Center, the Turrell Fund, the Parkhinson Hill Scholarships, and by the generosity of contributions to the Flynn Jazz Endowment, initiated by a challenge grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

FlynnArts is an associate member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts and a Member of CAEC, the Community Arts Education Council.

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES

The Flynn Center is an accessible facility, including its bathrooms and elevator between studios.
