Through the structure of time-honored fairytale plots and
characters, the sources of many famous classical ballets,
children explore the basics of ballet and creative movement.
Unlike traditional technique-oriented ballet instruction, kids'
imaginations take flight when they construct their own
choreography in bringing each story to life. Dancers share
some adventures with family and friends at semester’s end.

Ballet strengthens and tones the body while increasing
flexibility, balance, and coordination. Level I is a gentle and
friendly introduction to the form, suitable for true beginners
or those just dusting off their ballet slippers. Students
experience the joy of dance while internalizing correct
alignment and technique, artistry, and musicality. Level II
practices and builds upon existing technique in a class
focused on individual growth and attention. Classes include
full barre and center exercises.
Especially welcoming to adults new to the art form.

ELIZABETH BRODY received her B.F.A. in ballet and
technical theater from the University of Utah and has
choreographed and performed works throughout her
career. She taught ballet for the Deaf Shall Dance
Program in Salt Lake City and locally for the Vermont
Ballet Theatre Conservatory and UVM.
The Flynn’s dance program instills a lifelong love of dance, helping veteran dancers and first-timers alike experience the power of their bodies as expressive instruments and discover their unique movement capabilities. Classes cover a breadth of styles, teaching technique while helping students trust their own instincts—instilling confidence and a sense of accomplishment. Classes focus on process rather than product, but a year-end optional performance satisfies dancers’ desire to share their growth and hard work with family and friends. Our program is enhanced by connections to the world-class artists who perform on the Flynn MainStage and share their dance styles and ideas with FlynnArts students in masterclass settings. Drop-in students are permitted in teen/adult classes on a space-available basis for $16 per class. However, most classes fill up quickly with registered students, leaving no room for drop-ins. It is wise to secure a space in class by registering for the full semester.
