Strong, soaring voices and explosively rhythmic hand-clapping characterize Qawwali, devotional music and song based
on the mystic poetry of Sufi masters. An ensemble of nine musicians, led by brothers and master
qawwals Mehr and Sher Ali, perform heart-rending, percussive, and deeply
spiritual music that transcends cultural boundaries, issuing
a universal invitation to share in powerful emotions of
pure love, the pain of separation, and the joy of union.
The brothers Ali are students of the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
and family, venerated as the greatest of all Qawwali artists.
